Where's the $$ Going??

A few of you have asked a valid question: Why a fundraiser? Isn't the Army paying the medical bills? Etc. Well this question has a few answers. Beth, Melissa, and I (Karleen) thought of planning a fundraiser so personal bills can be covered since Mily is not working. The goal wasn't to cover medical bills since the Army will take care of that but things like personal bills, travel expenses, or whatever the family feels is necessary. The reality is the Army is not going to cover everything beyond medical expenses and those costs are the family's business.

The other reason was simply a selfish reason on my part. I thought it would be therapeutic for myself and other friends who have gone through an emotional roller coaster to meet and celebrate life. Mily loved gathering people together. Now we can come together as friends, share our emotions, and raise awareness on how to prevent a stroke and recognize the sign and symptoms of a stroke and what to do.

Any other questions please feel free to post a comment!

  1. They will definitely need all they help they can get. Thank you guys for organizing this. I hope you can set up an account that people can donate straight to. I know several people that want to help this way because they won't be here on the 6th!

  2. For your information Millie (mom) had to travel from Arizona to Washington and is taking a family medical leave, that means no income coming but bills continue to come in for both Mily and Mille. They don't care if someone is sick. Thanks so much for all your support. The family and Mily will greatly appreciate it.

Thanks again to the girls that who are so willingly to go the extra mile.

  3. This is Bethany's mom, Sherry. If I remember correctly, Ryan's birthday is coming up also. I am sure that he wants his mom's health back but what other ideas should be kept in mind? Is it before or after the fundraiser?

Ryan's Birthday is on March 19th, so it will be a week and a half after the fundraiser.

  6. Does anyone have any ideas about what Ryan would like for his birthday other than Mily back? Maybe we could send some things up that way for his Birthday...he could celebrate in Mily's room

  7. Thanks to all for the updates on Ryan's birthday. It would be great if the CA folks could put together a package at the fundraiser to be sent to him. Any suggestions will be welcomed, if he is a video gamer, maybe gift cards would let him shop for some new games or with enough $$$ a small handheld device to wile away the long hospital hours.
