It's Rally time boys and girls - rally time
OK - I'm a dyed-in-the-wool Dodger fan - let's get that part clear; however we need to rally Angel fan style. Our darling Mily is doing just fine from a physiologic perspective. She went back to interventional radiology yesterday and the Greenfield filter was pulled successfully and without issue. Mily did her own little medical procedure today though; you all know how dedicated she is to medicine. She pulled her tracheostomy out! The docs were going to do it probably tomorrow anyway - the doc joked that she didn't want to pay to have it done! Anyway - she suffered no ill effects from her little stunt (thank GOD), but I soap-boxed away as the staff gets paid to watch her and make sure she is safe (as in NOT doing things like that). It doesn't surprise me that little miss feisty found some mischief, but it doesn't help my anxiety for her safety while I'm 1000 miles away either. So, on with why it's rally time. For those of you who aren't Angel fans (I adore you) and don't know what I'm talking about, rally time is used to boost the troops, unite as one, divide and conquer, kick ass and take names - you get the point. Mily is scared - scared to death. She has no memory of how she got into this pickle and is not in control of the situation (you know how she is). It's time for her to see us - get your web cam, handycam or whatever; shoot a short video message and email it to msgsformily@gmail.com - I don't care how well you do or don't know Mily. It's time for a love-fest! It's time for her to SEE the support so her dear heart can settle a bit. She will likely be moved to the rehab facility tomorrow; all of these places are nursing-home-ish and are difficult environments for young, vibrant people like Mily. The good news is that she told her nurse today that she was allergic to compazine (she is), showing intact cognition. While I'm on the thought - say a prayer of thanks for Dr Sheila Smitherman - she is the neurosurgeon that saved Mily's life; her skill and agressive treatment are why we are all able to be celebrating and not grieving. Her and fabulous Ryan for knowing his mom needed help and calling 911! Anyway, the fact that Mily can think and communicate clearly will make it so she can completely comprehend the environment she is in - if it's full of people not doing well in their rehab - the energy in the whole building will reflect it and Mily will know and it will scare/depress her. Send your videos, silly skits, love and devotion pledges - all of it; I will give Millie the password to the account and she can play your messages to Mily on her laptop. Frank - maybe you can get hold of these at some point and edit them all together. Quiet on the set.....ACTION! B

ReplyDeleteSo tell me B when you started this blog you said that someone would read these to Mily can you tell me if she has been read all of the comments and posts that have been on here?
Now Mily we know how fiesty you are but you don't have to prove that to the Doc's and nurses! You would be the first one sitting there to tell any of us that we shouldn't be doing that, that it is there for a reason! So as I said before I know you are not going to be a good patient but try to remember how it feels to be on the other end of this thing and hang in there!! You are going to come through this with flying colors unlike anyone that they have ever seen!! You are a star and you light shine on everyone and anyone that meets you. Just give them a chance to see it! You don't want to be that Patient that they are all so grateful to get rid of as they have been a pain in the butt! I am so glad that you are ok though and didn't hurt yourself while doing that!
I sure do hope that you are getting to read these posts and messages that are being sent to you every day. We are all so darned proud of your recovery and we know that it is going to be at that pace that you hate! (Slow) but my dear even your slow is fast! for what has gone on with you!!!
We love you so much and want the very best of everything for you. We are so glad that Dan is there with you, Ryan has his dad to be with him while his Mom is recouperating, I know that must be a piece of comfort for the both of them as they watch you take this journey!
I am sure that your family, (Mom, Dad & siblings) Are so amazed with you on a daily basis as the rest of us are.
We have been experiencing some of your WA rain this week, yet we have included Tornado's here who would have thought??? We have had 1 in Goleta this week and yesterday 1 in Santa Barbara. Grandma has had a few down in her area this week also, talk about freaks of nature!
Well Mils, we love you so and conitnue on your road to health and wellness as the prayers continue for you each and every day.
I will check in on you tomorrow!

ReplyDeleteBet you are using a boat to get around in Long Beach with all the rain we have been having. I know I now own a lake that has developed in my back yard. If it lasts till summer, I can have you all over for a BBQ and a swim!! JK
But it is really raining hard here in So Cal.
Was a real challange to get into work today.
But it was worth it to come in and read the possitive blog posting! Many thanks to Dr. Smitherman for her course of action that has brought us to this happy day!! Millie, Danny and Ryan, don't you guys forget to take good care of yourselves too. I am certain that seeing your faces every day keeps Mily's drive going at full speed!!

Tornandos in AZ, can you believe it? We've been having WA weather in AZ for the last few days. Some schools were closed in the Metro PHX area because too much rain.
