Fundraiser Info!

Beth and I (this is Karleen writing) finalized most of the specifics for the fundraiser. The date will be Saturday March 6th from 11am-4pm. Now that you know, it is time to request that day off or think of a random illness to tell your boss so you can call in sick. It should be the end of flu season in March so that might be a good one or you can use the year round excuse of food poisoning! Don't worry, we won't tell on you. Last week I obtained the permits to rent an area at Central Park in Huntington Beach that has eleven covered picnic benches, public bathrooms, a grass field, two play grounds, and a lake. Come rain or come shine we are prepared with covered tents and this event will not be cancled. It should be a great day. We will have hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, dessert, and soda all for around $10 per person. We will also have a raffle where tickets can be purchased to enter. Of course random donations are welcome as well! So bring your family, friends, and anyone who wants to have a good time while raising money for Mily and her family. At the same time our goal is to raise awareness for stroke prevention. We will never know why our dear friend had to suffer a stroke, but we have to learn from this and as a gift to ourselves and our families do our best to prevent a stroke in ourselves. If a beautiful women like Mily can have a stroke in her 30s...well then we all are at risk. At this fundraiser we will have posters educating us on the signs and symptoms of a stroke and what to do about it.

On a personal note, I urge you all to do the one thing that can help reduce your risk of a stroke. Go get a physical. My husband is super scared of doctors and needles. After we found out that high blood pressure was the cause of Mily's stroke, I made appointments for us to get physicals and he agreed to go! During a physical the doctor will check your blood pressure and over all wellness. During this appointment tell your doctor about Mily and that you are there so you can learn how to prevent a stroke. Your doctor might tell you you are doing everything fine and to not worry. Or maybe your doctor will tell you it's time to eat better, exercise, and start taking medications to lower your blood pressure. Regardless of what the doctor says you are giving your family and friends the gift of your health. Even though the gift of health may not sound as cool as a new Wii console...I bet your family would enjoy you being around longer.

I will update more details about the fundraiser as the weeks go on so please check back on a regular basis. We have had some people offer things to be raffled and need more so keep em coming!! We will also be setting up an account that people out of state can make a donation to and will post the details for that on here soon. Please email me with any questions or if you have things to donate: KMSamartan@gmail.com
Hope you all have a blessed day!
Until next time, Karleen

  1. I am very thankful that you and others have arranged this fundraiser, but a question I have is, isn't the military going to be picking up her medical bills? Aren't all dependents covered? Will these proceeds be personnal support or is it toward the bills cuz the military should be covering it...
