Moving day..... hospital day 22
Mily was transferred out of the ICU today! She is now on a regular hospital unit. That means they believe her to be stable from a respiratory, neuro and bp status to name a few of the issues they've been watching. The possible downside to this is that the nurses in these units have more patients, thus less time to spend with each. Millie will be spending lots of time at the hospital to make sure Mily gets the high level of attention she still needs in the transition period. Two things happened yesterday that I'd like to share..... first, Dan had his sister Beth on speaker phone and Mily reached and took the phone out of his hand and put it to her ear! How cute is that - she always was on the phone! Picking up right where she left off :). Second, and :( sad face on this one; Mily's hair had to be cut. She had a fair portion shaved on the right side when they did her surgery, and unfortunately had lots of knots that were unmanageable in the rest of it. Kelly and Millie did their best and it will all surely grow back in time. All in all, it's the least of the worries at this point - it's just a bummer. If she continues to sail along the course of recovery that she's on, I would guess she'll be transferred to rehab in a week or so. As she begins to be awake for longer an longer periods of time, it'll be important to stimulate her while she's awake. Keep those emails coming! She may be able to read them on her own before long. I'm facing challenges in getting the new nurses to talk to me (they don't know me like the ICU staff did), so my updates may be a little vague until I straighten them out. I'm sure a visit from someone in executive management will fix them right up (Mily knows how I get when I don't get the cooperation I expect). sleep tight friends, B

Well Mils you are proving to me that the faith I have in the Lord and you were right on track!
ReplyDeleteI am so proud of you and will continue to send all of the good thoughts and strength by osmosis that I can, your way!
I am sure that you are going through phone withdrawls so if Dan has his phone and you want to talk you tell him to call me as I would love to talk to you and I would do my best to keep talking since I would have the floor per say! Woo Hoo, wouldn't be as much fun as having your opinions or responses but would truly be happy to oblige.
I am sure that Ryan and Dan and of course your family and friends are so happy to see your progress. We are all so grateful can't even tell you how many people have been praying for you, the outpouring of love and concern that have been targeted on you would just floor you! But wait you have been floored and we really don't want to go back there, so just trust me on this ok!! LOL
Well Missy we love you so much and are so happy that you are awake and listening to everyone else. Remember what they say Dr.'s and Nurses make the worst patients. So listen to what they tell you and don't give them a rash of, well you know what. Talk to you soon. Love you, Aunt Jodi
Mily: we are so glad you have moved out of ICU! What a huge step. We sat behind your husband and son at church yesterday, and it made me think of you all during sacrament meeting. We can't wait to see you again at church! Keep up the good work in getting better Mily - we love you!

Mily,
ReplyDeleteGreat news on your progress. We knew you could do it !! On a personal note, keep up the good work as the hospital staff does not want to deal with your "sista" Beth if they don't share the progress notes with her. She will be much happier when she can talk to you herself.
Love and prayers, Sherry (Bethany's mom)
Had a nice long talk with Ken and Patty last night. It is so great to hear they state that you are getting better. And they had told me that you are getting moved to your own room.
ReplyDeleteSo happy with the progress you are making!!! It is true what your Aunt Jodi says. You have soo many people wishing you well and praying for you. A number of the girls I work with are following along on he blog and pulling for you. They have never even met you and can feel the love!!
I also have a number of friends who are watching the blog as well. I am printing out the blog for Aunt Kathy and Marleen to read.
Just saw them Friday night and they both send their love to all of you.. . .
Well, I don't do the sports stuff and find it hard to watch the earthquake updates on Haiti, so you will have to hear that from the others.
And it sounds like you have a lot of sports fans out there that are doing a great job filling you in. So you rest easy and I will drop you a line tomorrow to check in on you.

Mily, You go Girl!!! You make those doctors re-write the book on recovery and positive attitude with lots of prayers. Prayers for you to give you heart and body strenght for continued recovery. well, we are in so very sad here in San Diego. Our Chargers played and looked bad, thus lost to the Jets. Oh my gosh. I know it is only a game but really could they look that bad. So now I am a Saints fan. Go Drew Brees. We finally are getting rain. I know you are tired of the rain but we sure need it down here. They say between 3 and 33 inches. Weatherman - were do they come from? My parents are off to Hawaii. Doesn't that sound nice? Just sitting there watching the waves, drinking a glass of wine. Well, get going and come on down here to San Diego and we can pretend we are in Hawaii. I bet Aunt Jodi would hop in here car to join us along with all your friends in Orange county. We love you so much and sending HUGE hugs. Aunt Vicki
