Well, we are at the two week mark. It brings tears to my eyes to look at pictures of sweet Mily - I miss her in my life so much. I'm sure you all feel the same way; I'm so ready to see her smile and get some random silly text from her. Anywho, that day will come - I have absolute faith. She has been started on a drug called heparin; it is the drug that will help the clot in her lungs break down. Her levels of sedation have been decreased, so it's time for her to begin to wake up now! While the sedation is decreased, it is possible (likely) for her blood pressure to increase due to agitation involved in the awakening process. This will be managed with blood pressure medications that will be given as needed, and will be able to be weaned over time also. She is beginning to yawn and move slightly; the sedation takes time to clear her system so it will be awhile before she starts to do much more. The ventriculostomy drain was removed today, too. Overall, she is doing well and all parameters are within normal limits considering where we started two weeks ago. I don't know about all of you but the ICU nurse in me was patient with the process until now. I have a huge lump in my throat because I just miss her now more than ever. Thank you Melissa for flying back to Washington this weekend, and thanks to Kari who will arrive on Monday. I owe many thanks to Melissa, Karleen, Kari, Millie, Danny, Ryan, Debbie, Chris, Josh, Leslie and I'm sure many more for their love for Mily and for supporting me so I can write this blog for all of you. It takes a village to get through life; I'm glad you all are part of mine.
Much love and hope to see Mily awake soon! <3 B

This comment comes from the Sunshine house room 107 where Millie (MOM), Iris (Aunt) and Melissa go to rest when needed. We want to say that WE LOVE having Beth in our village :). We watched Mily twice yawned as it brought smiles to our faces as well as the nurses. She is loved by all the nurses. They even visit her when they are not her primary nurse. We really appreciate the caring they have for Mily and her family. We are going to take a cat nap and get up early to be with her. We have all the emails and the cards in her room. The family is very appreciative of the emails and cards and flowers and cakes and cookies and teddy bears that have been sent. Bless you all for your prayers they are appreciated. Please keep the wonderful prayers going.

Thanks to B we have been keeping up on your progeosss, with such greatefulness that there is one of your good friends there able to fill us in on what is going on with you. It has been absolutely wonderful that there is someone like you who is there to explain to us in words that we understand what is happening with yu today. We are so happy for every little miracle that you perform! Like the little words saying that you have yawned and are trying to wake up. That makes me happy to hear. Well this weekend has been a busy one for the kids. Yesterday Sereena turned 10 and today Sydney turns 4. All of these birthdays in January kind of crazy. Next one is Diana's on the 15th and Jason's was last weekend. A crazy month for me I tell you.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to you waking up and keeping us up to date on what is going on in your life everyday. Can't wait until you are able to fill this blog in everydy and we are all able to read your words.
Marcos is still sick with that darned flu and today he is scared enough to go to urgent care, he might have a touch of the swine flu so glad we are here and not up there to expose you to anything else, you have enough to conquer.
Oh I am sitting on the bed right now and the window is open and in all of the years we have been in this condo I have never had this happen, but right now the most wonderful smell of the Ocean is wafting through the window, what a treat! Wish you were here to share it with me!
You know living across the street from the ocean you would think that I would smell it more often but there are few days that you can actually smell the ocean in the air, so the days that I can are such a treat to me, I just love them.
Well sweetheart I had better get up and get dressed so I can take that husband to urgent care and get on with my day. I will be checking in on you later, so I hope that your day will bring small miracles that we can all share with you. Much love coming your way!! Aunt Jodi
I was just thinking about the fan that is next to your bed and wondering if you still are using it? It's just above zero here today in PA and I'm hoping you are warm. Well the warm that you like - with a fan on you. I wished I could have been there to see you yawn, but I am just happy that I was there. Reading your blog - I so feel that your friends have certainly carried on your tradition of keeping the family informed of the illness of one of our loved ones - to them I am extremely grateful. I'm thinking about making meatloaf, so I know how much you like it. If you can smell it the 3000 miles away - maybe it will help you wake up with your beautiful smile. I'm thinking about you all the time, and I can't wait to hear your beautiful voice again. I could even go for hearing your snoring today...... Love you more than you can imagine. Mom Sharon

ReplyDeleteI went to the beach today, 75 degrees in San Diego in January. I thought of Mily: sunshine and warmth in the middle of winter... just like when she enters the room. Love her and the family and the people I met and the people writing this blog too, praying hard for everyone, and Mily: wake up soon so we can see your smiling face and have our lives light up once again.

Oh Mily honey! Sorry but your Green Bay Packers lost to the Cards in overtime. The final score was 51-45! Yep you heard that right....51-45!! It was exciting to watch and wish you could have seen it! Although in the end maybe you didn't want to see it! In other football news the Jets beat the Bengals, my Cowboys beat the Eagles and Baltimore took the Patriots! Next week should be exciting! In soccer news, Makenna's team won both of their games yesterday and only needed a win or tie in todays game to go to the championship! Kenna delivered 3 shutouts this weekend before losing to a good club 2-0 in the championship! They took 2nd place which isn't too bad! At least she didn't have to save any Penalty kicks in the finals...that always makes for an exciting time! The girls were upset but are putting it behind them as they prepare for state cup! Everyone else here is good and everyone sends their love!! Miss you girl...hurry up and wake up so we can see you smile and hear you laugh!
ReplyDeleteLove you,
Lisa
