She's pretty in pink
Ok, so I like to shop.....anyone who knows me at all knows about my wardrobe - particularly my shoe fetish. So when I got here, I did a quick look-see and this place was just not girly enough at all. A girl needs some soft, snuggly things to make her feel special, especially when she's trying to heal. She has new clothes for PT - sweats, shorts, and tees. She has some new super soft and pretty jammies. I'm a sucker for a satin pillow case myself, so Mily now has two crimson red satin pillow cases to rest her beautiful head upon and a bright pink coverlet and a heart-shaped pillow with a pocket to hold her phone (she loses it in bed alot - so we fixed that). We've taken lots of photos of her happily hunkered down with her new homey comforts - I will post them here once home as I do not have my camera cable with me now. I'm sitting here in her room with her while she chatters away on the phone to the dozens of people she is calling this morning..... music to my ears. Speaking of music, we've been grooving and singing to everything from Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood to Marvin Gaye. Debbie - we've been dancing as practice for your wedding, so Mily'll be ready to partay! When you see the photos of her, she will look a bit tired - that is the effect of the stroke. Her facial muscles have not yet rebuilt their tone so she looks wiped out when she isn't. You know it when she's tired - she just goes to sleep mid-sentence; when she's done, she's done. I know we are all motivated to see her get home and be better, but the truth of the matter is this - the longer the insurance will continue to pay for her to be an inpatient here - the better off she will be in the long run. I am truly hoping for her to remain here until May or even June as it will mean a much better long term outcome for her to have intensive therapy for months, not just weeks. Rehab units of this caliber are rare - she needs to milk this for all it's worth so she can have maximum benefit from it. She misses the comforts of home and wants out of here, I know it's hard to be in a clinical environment. Her spirits improve little by little, and she's turning statements of 'I can't' to 'I can' or 'I'll try', or 'I'll learn'. So much of this journey is mental rather than physical - her spirits continue to build with your love......She thanks you again for your love and prayers, but feels that those words can't begin to express what you've all done for her and her family. You know what a giver she is - it's hard for her to be the receiver. She is so grateful - but a tad bored and lonely too. The walls look the same day-to-day, so please keep up the cards, phone calls and love. She's locked herself out of her facebook and email accounts - I'm not sure how we're going to fix that yet. Anyway, I feel so very blessed to be able to be here; I headed to the airport shortly - I land just in time for my hubby to miss the end of the Super Bowl....c'est la vie - the Saints are gonna take it anyway! :) B

Well Mils, I see all of the positive things that you are accomplishing every day and oh boy! You see I know that your journey is meant for all of us to learn something in regards to this road to use at a later date in our lives. Once again you are teaching us all something that we are supposed to know, so thank you.
ReplyDeleteYou think that your faithful supporters are the ones that are giving to you and that you are on the recieving end which isn't easy for you, so remember that every stride you accomplish and every miracle that you share with us,is you, giving back to us and teaching us. So don't feel like you are doing your part here, cuz Missy you are!
So did they let you watch the game yesterday? Or did they think that it would be too much for you blood pressure? Let me tell you it was almost too much for mine! Great Game I tell you. We had a wonderful pool which we do every year at work. And I had 2 squares!
Well if you didn't see the game in the 4th quarter The Saints (yea) scored and overtook the Colts then went for a 2 point conversion, which would have put me in position to win the 4th Quarter! $640!!!! It was so wonderful for about 3 more minutes of the game!! I was a winner for that long then as soon as it came it went away, bummer! But couldn't be upset too much as the Saints won anyways so I was happy for them to win.
Well sweetheart you do look so pretty in pink and I am loving the bangs!! You look terrific and your smile is there and I can see it shining through! That is better than winning that 4th quarter I tell you!
Have a wonderful day and know how much I love you!
Aunt Jodi
Dear Miss Mily, What a pleasure to see a current photo of you. Yep, it's our same beloved Mily! So proud of all the work you continue to do every day to aid in your recovery. You keep up the good work. Miss B is doing such a great job in keeping the rest of us all informed. I love the PINK!! You look so beautiful in it! I bet it is great to relax under all of it after you have worked out so hard during the day. Please remember we are thinking of you and praying for you daily.
ReplyDeleteI'd fill you in on the Super Bowl, but I don't keep track of sports. I'm sure someone else near by has already taken care of filling you in on that. Hope the sun is shining there so you can feel the warmth of the sun (does a body good).
B, I trust you had a safe trip home, and Mily you keep on smiling. . . .

ReplyDeleteMily - so sorry I missed your call on Sunday. But I guess with all the yelling for the Saints we could not hear the ring tone. I love you right back. I am keeping that one to play for everyone down here. So mom sharon just emailed us about walking 12 steps on your own. Way to go!! We all are rooting for you in San Diego - hope you can here us way up there. We are getting more rain. Now for you that is not unusual but for us down here - it is a big deal. Lots of flooding because it rains in buckets at times and that is just too much. We had a tree crash on one of our vehicles. That was exciting now to get it fixed. I hope your wall is looking good with the valentines you are getting. I hope you and Dan can have a moment on Sunday just for the two of you. Give Dan, Ryan and your mom big hugs from us Wallaces. Love you so much Aunt Vicki
